Dakota Kai now performs under the in-ring name Charlie, but recently joked that she knows her new persona still needs some work.
Speaking to DS Shin for Sirius XM Sports in a recent interview, Charlie brought up the feedback surrounding her new name. Specifically, she joked that she’s heard the criticism, and knows she needs a last name to pair up with her new name.
“I keep hearing people say…I need to add a last name…and I agree, but I can’t just be like ‘Okay, I’m Charlie…Brooks.’ It has to be something, but I hear you, and I understand that by itself, it sounds kind of meh. It is my actual nickname, it’s under construction…I’ll have a last name the next time we talk.”
Kai was released by WWE in May 2025, and took some time away from wrestling after. She returned earlier this year at Wrestle Queendom 8 with a brand new name. Since then, she’s competed several times, and has also competed against Shotzi Blackheart at HOG Culture Clash 2026.
Charlie has also talked about a potential return to WWE, saying that it wasn’t impossible but that she wasn’t thinking about that at the time.
