CM Punk comes out and says he's been trying to figure out why The Shield attacked him, but he was in denial because he knows the real reason. He says he made the mistake of criticizing Triple on RAW, and later on in the show he was attacked because he defied authority. Punk says HHH shouldn't pick a fight with a guy who is anti authority, and he hopes he's right, but thinks HHH's group is pathetic and stupid. Stephanie McMahon comes out and says he should know they support free speech, then she cites HHH cofounding Degeneration X and says they didn't come after him. She says it's really easy for Punk to point the finger at them when The Shield attacked him, but they aren't that petty. Stephanie says they have bigger things to deal with, like the TLC main event contract signing, so Punk can talk to Kane if he has anymore problems.

Kane comes out and tells Punk that they looked into his claim, and they found that The Authority had nothing to do with his attacked, so this is over. He asks Punk if he has any questions and Punk asks when he became the Big Red Ass Kisser, but Kane warns him not to go down this path. Punk says he has another path since Kane sold out, and he says Kane should walk down to the ring and get knocked out by him. Kane moves towards the ring but Stephanie stops him, then Kane regains his composure as The Shield makes their way through the crowd. Punk grabs a chair and gets back in the ring, then The Shield surrounds him but Stephanie tells them to stop. She says Punk will be respected and admired, then she walks away as Kane says he should also be challenged… by all three members of The Shield in a handicap match at TLC.

#1 Contender's Match (Intercontinental Championship)

Damien Sandow vs Dolph Ziggler

Dolph goes for a quick rollup before Sandow whips him into the ropes, then Dolph clotheslines him and goes for a sleeperhold. Sandow holds the ropes and rolls outside, then Dolph dives at him but Sandow throws him headfirst into the steps before rolling him inside. Sandow gets a near fall before punching Dolph in the head, then he hits a side Russian legsweep and follows up with the Elbow of Disdain for two. Dolph catches Sandow with a swinging DDT for two, then he splashes Sandow and hits some mounted punches and a neckbreaker. Dolph hits a Famouser for another near fall, then he heads up top but Sandow crothces him on the ropes and hits You're Welcome for the win.

Winner – Damien Sandow
