Adrian Neville comes out dressed in a suit. It’s announced that he and Sami Zayn will be on “Talk Is Jericho” with Chris Jericho next week to promote their match at NXT Takeover: R Evolution.
Neville asks the fans if they think he’s proud for having to pull a referee out of the ring at NXT Takeover, or having to “cheat” to defend his title after he blew out his knee. He says he would have done things differently if he had any choice, but the bottom line is that Sami Zayn lacks the “killer instinct” to get the job done and become NXT Champion.
Sami Zayn comes out, and Neville tells him that he will not be responsible for making him quit the WWE. He says that he’s only responsible for himself and his own career. Zayn tells him he’s been listening to everything the champ has been saying, but it’s pissing him off. He says Neville doesn’t decide his fate, and the decision will have nothing to do with them.
Adrian cuts him off and says there’s no disrespect, he just wants to have the match of their careers next week, and extends his hand. Sami says this is where he goes wrong every time, being the nice guy and showing respect. He says it’s not about respect and slaps him across the face, hard. Zayn screams “you don’t get to end me, I get to end you” and throws the mic on the ground before walking out of the building.
KILLAM: That last segment was incredible. It was the “moment” they have been building Sami to for months, and the catalyst to make next Thursday’s main event truly memorable. The story of him finding that dark side and tapping into it in order to “win the big one” has been really good, really consistent, and I’m really looking forward to it. The rest of the show was decent. I’m surprised there was no official announcement for Corbin/Dempsey. Kevin Owens and Corey Graves added to the event make it must-watch.
