The first Gookerthon post today celebrates some of his comments about the Guerrero Family. Later today we will be posting some of this thoughts about TNA, the progression of the pro wrestling business and, of course, portraying the Gobbledy Gooker.

You can find some of his transcribed quotes and listen to the full interview in the embedded player below: On his brother Mando Guerrero and his father Gory:

HG: Mando is a great, great asset for the wrestling business. Just like all of us are. I believe every Guerrero has the training that my Father brought in to it. Which has American style wrestling but most important we also had the Lucha style. Which is what we initiated in to the American style. Along with what he had done earlier in his career with other wrestlers back then. Back in the 30’s and 40’s. My Dad was one of those guys along with El Santo who came to the United States. A very high quality training we had through my father Gory. He was very demanding but in a loving way. He loved his kids and he loved that we all followed his career and his footsteps. He also was very demanding but he expected the best from us. My Mother always said, “Your father didn’t create any followers he always created Generals and you guys are Generals.” That’s how we are known in the ring because when we get in the ring we take over.

On his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr. working as a producer on Lucha Underground:

HG: I love it. It’s a good position for him. Chavo and I are very close. I’m talking both of them. Chavo Classic, I respect my oldest brother very much. Then his younger son I love dearly. I treat him as an equal. We shouldn’t always treat everybody on just age. Whether they are older or younger or… it doesn’t matter. Once we get to be adults we should all treat each other the same. With the same respect and humility and honesty. Jr. doing the Lucha Underground that is a brand new market. They are bringing the Lucha in to the United States. Which is great but I still see a lot of things that if I had it, if I was doing the promotion, if it was my venue and it was mine… I wouldn’t do a lot the things that they are doing.

On his brother Eddie Guerrero:

HG: My brother Eddie is in heaven. The WWE acts like he was part of more of the “wrestling family” than he is of his natural, blood family. That can never be. I had my wrestling family, which is my buddies that I have wrestled all throughout the years, but they’ll never be closer than my own blood family. You know that? It’s the same with you. Your family is family. It just goes that way.
