Ricky Saints believes the friction he has with Ethan Page only makes for a good match.
Saints spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WrestleMania Media Day and offered a preview of his title defense against Ethan Page. The two will collide at NXT Stand & Deliver, but they’ve crossed paths before in their careers. Saints and Page had several matches in AEW, and worked together for a few independent matches.
There are some similarities, but their personalities are wildly different. That, Saints said, brings out the best in them.
“Polar opposites attract, of course, and I’m no stranger to Ethan. We have met before on the indies and other places, things of that nature, so I think having that chemistry only creates the best types of matches and outcomes,” Ricky Saints said.
When asked if he had a message for Page ahead of Stand & Deliver, Ricky Saints offered a simple preview of what’s to come.
“Hey bud, you’re gonna lose,” Saints said.
NXT Stand & Deliver takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon. Stay tuned for our full interview with Ricky Saints on WrestleZone soon.
How quickly was Saints’ turnaround from AEW to WWE?
Saints’ arrival in WWE was anticipated, but the timing of it was certainly surprising. AEW released Saints just a day prior to his NXT debut. Saints told Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer that when he says things happened fast, he meant it.
“It was a very quick turnaround. People think that was days in advance,” Saints said. “I had never spoken to WWE at all before any of that. I never got on the phone with anyone before that, blah, blah, blah. So all of that, when I say it happened so fast, it happened so fast, and it never let up off the gas.”
