Gabe Kidd has forfeited his remaining matches for this year’s G1 Climax tournament after incurring a knee injury.
As previously reported, Gabe Kidd hyperextended his right knee. This forced him to miss his scheduled match against Zack Sabre Jr. on the second night of the tournament. At the time, fans were unsure of his ability to compete moving forward with the G1.
On the July 25 show of the G1 Climax, however, Gabe Kidd addressed his status for the remainder of the tournament. He stated that after consulting with doctors on the severity of his injury, he must withdraw from the tournament completely.
Nonetheless, he ensured that he will return from this injury in better shape than he was going into the G1 Climax. “I can only promise you one thing, is that when I am back fighting on this blue mat, it is going to be the best version of Gabe Kidd you’ve ever f***ing seen,” he says.
As a result of his forfeiture, each of his fellow G1 Climax blockmates will be warranted with a victory.
