Saya Kamitani Wants STARDOM To Run A Tokyo Dome Show

World of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani has major goals for the promotion moving forward with her reign as the Phenex Queen.

Saya Kamitani sat down with Web Sportiva for an exclusive interview. Following her discussion on Tam Nakano‘s retirement, she talked about her goal for STARDOM to host a show at the Tokyo Dome. She mentioned that her recent media appearances have attracted attention from new viewers of the product.

“This year, my media appearances have helped draw in audiences for Stardom, so I want to appear in all the shows I can and go wild. My current goal is to hold a show at the Tokyo Dome with STARDOM. This was also Tam Nakano’s dream. I took everything from her, so now I’ve taken her dream too. One day I’ll paint the Tokyo Dome black,” she says. Saya also mentioned that she wishes to focus on growing the STARDOM product locally. She currently does not have plans in competing overseas.

STARDOM President Taro Okada has also been vocal about pushing for a Tokyo Dome show a while back. Some women on the STARDOM roster have competed in the venue as part of NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom. Earlier this year, former IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani defended her belt against AZM at Wrestle Kingdom 19. Two years prior at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Tam Nakano challenged KAIRI (now WWE’s Kairi Sane) for the same title. Mercedes Moné made her NJPW debut shortly after the match.

As of the time of writing, Saya Kamitani is competing in the ongoing 5 Star Grand Prix. She currently leads the Red Stars A block at 8 points with no losses. Bea Priestley follows behind at 6 points with Hanan and Mei Seira tied at 5 each.
