Oba Femi Defeats Raw Star on WWE Main Event Ahead of Brand Contract Signing

Oba Femi picked up another win this week, but not on RAW or SmackDown.

Instead, the former NXT Champion competed on the latest episode of WWE Main Event, defeating Joaquin Wilde as questions swirl about his brand future.

The bout was not a quick showcase. While Femi ultimately secured the victory, it took time to put Wilde away, offering a more competitive outing than his recent squash appearances. For a Superstar nicknamed “The Ruler,” it was less a blitz and more a measured takeover.

Femi has been a featured presence across both brands since vacating the NXT Championship in early January 2026.

On the February 2 episode of RAW, he dismantled The War Raiders singlehandedly. Four days later on SmackDown, he flattened Kit Wilson in under a minute. He also entered the 2026 Royal Rumble at No. 1, lasting 39 minutes and eliminating five competitors before Brock Lesnar ended his run.

Despite that momentum, Femi has yet to officially sign with either brand. During the February 16 episode of RAW, General Manager Adam Pearce offered him a contract, stating that “Raw needs a flagship.” Pearce also referenced interest from SmackDown’s Nick Aldis, making it clear that Femi is a hot commodity.

“The Ruler” did not sign immediately, telling Pearce he needed time to decide. As he exited, he had an intense staredown with a returning Rusev — a moment that hinted at future fireworks but stopped short of confirmation.

With WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas approaching, rumours have indicated WWE is considering a marquee match between Femi and Lesnar. However, creative plans remain unconfirmed.

For now, Oba Femi continues to stack wins while weighing his options. Whether Main Event is a temporary stop or part of a larger plan remains to be seen. One thing is clear — wherever he signs, the brand may soon have a new ruler.
