Chris Jericho Auditioned For Lead Role On New Apple TV Series

Chris Jericho says he auditioned for the lead role in the new Apple TV series Margo’s Got Money Troubles.

A few months before his return to AEW, Chris Jericho stepped inside the ring for Apple TV’s comedy-drama series Margo’s Got Money Troubles. The show stars Elle Fanning as the protagonist, Margo Millet, with Nick Offerman as Jinx Millet, a former professional wrestler and Margo’s estranged father. Chris Jericho made a cameo as himself, as Jinx’s former partner.

Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho revealed that he originally auditioned for the role of Jinx Millet, which eventually went to Nick Offerman.

“It’s weird enough playing myself, but it’s kind of cool. Nick and Nicole, how could you not be cool with this? I actually auditioned for the part that Nick plays. They liked my read. ‘Let’s have him do something in this scene more than just a background.’ That’s how all that came about,” Chris Jericho shared. [H/T Clutchpoints]

The show premiered on April 15, and Chris Jericho shows up in the fourth episode.

Chavo Guerrero praises Chris Jericho as a genre-bending pioneer for wrestlers

Former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero works as the lead wrestling consultant in Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Speaking with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, he opened up about working with Chris Jericho in the series. He praised Jericho for making it feel like a night off, noting how much the former AEW World Champion has done for wrestlers looking to break out into other genres.

“Being on set for all that was really cool. I got to work with a very old friend of mine, Chris Jericho, in a completely different setting than pro wrestling,” Chavo Guerrero explained. “It was more like a night off for me with him. I didn’t really have to do much. It was basically just, ‘do your thing.’ It was really cool to work with an old buddy of mine and kind of take that part of the night off.

“Chris is so multi-talented, man. He is one of those guys who followed his dreams in rock and roll and wrestling. He’s a kid from Winnipeg who, like I said, started with wrestling and music, and that eventually led into acting,” Chavo said. “He just kind of followed wherever it’s taken him. He’s definitely a pioneer, not just in wrestling, but for wrestlers in other genres as well.”
