There is a new update on Asuka’s contract following WWE Backlash.
At Backlash, Asuka took on IYO SKY in a show-stealing match. After the bout, the Empress of Tomorrow broke character to share an emotional moment with her former protégé, leading fans to believe Asuka may be retiring from active in-ring competition.
Big E also questioned her in-ring future following the match against IYO SKY at Backlash. The former WWE Champion praised the Empress of Tomorrow for her contributions to the sport of professional wrestling.
F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer reported that Asuka is “semi-retired.” However, Fightful stated that her status is less clear, but sources do not believe she had her last match yet.
New report sheds light on Asuka’s WWE future amid retirement rumors
PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reports that he has been told Asuka will “remain aligned with the company.”
The outlet noted that she is in Knoxville, Tennessee, the site of WWE RAW on Monday, but it is unclear if she will appear on the show this week. It was also stated that a story about the former WWE Women’s Champion returning to Japan for a family matter is making the rounds, but PWInsider would not share details, as it could not confirm the accuracy of that report.
WrestleZone will provide live coverage of WWE RAW later tonight.
