Sol Ruca Snatches Becky Lynch’s Soul, Mercedes Mone Returns, Lady Frost Interview – Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up

Sol Ruca snatches Becky Lynch’s soul at Clash in Italy. Mercedes Moné returns to AEW action. Lady Frost chats with WrestleZone, and more!

Sol Ruca Snatches Becky Lynch’s Soul & Women’s IC Title

Just one month into her main roster run, Sol Ruca has captured championship gold.

The road to that milestone began last month, when Becky Lynch interrupted Ruca’s official Raw brand contract signing. When Lynch then faced Ruca at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, a yanking of the referee resulted in “The Man” getting disqualified and Ruca getting a future shot at the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

The Lynch-Ruca title clash took place at WWE Clash in Italy, where Lynch again attempted to use sly antics to win. Referee Jessika Carr, however, seemingly anticipated them as she stepped out of the way when Lynch charged toward her at one point.

In the final moments, Ruca planted Lynch with a Manhandle Slam. When Lynch tried to return the favor with one of her own, the rising star reversed it into Sol Snatcher. With Lynch down and out, Ruca then covered her for the winning pinfall.

Ruca celebrated her Women’s Intercontinental Championship win on the following episode of Raw, also emanating from Italy. In the same episode, inaugural titleholder Lyra Valkyria cited interest in challenging for the title once more, especially given that Lynch no longer held it.

Whether this will lead to Ruca’s first title defense has yet to be seen.

Mercedes Moné Returns With A Victory

With Willow Nightingale forced to withdraw from the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament due to injury, Alex Windsor was momentarily left without a first-round opponent. A wildcard opponent later changed that when they stepped up to Windsor on this week’s AEW Dynamite episode.

Following a five-month hiatus from AEW, former TBS Champion Mercedes Moné returned to action with a fire in her eyes and her eyes locked on the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Championship. That fire ultimately led “The CEO” to victory as she nailed Windsor, the reigning NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion, with a backstabber, then locked in the Statement Maker. Windsor tapped out, signaling Mone’s advancement in the tourney.

Looking ahead, Mone will face the winner of Persephone vs. Hazuki in the semi-finals. The winner of the entire tournament will earn a world title shot at AEW All In, set for August 30 in London, England.

Mone came out on top of the 2025 iteration by besting Jamie Hayter in the finals. Her subsequent title clash with then-AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, however, yielded a loss.

2026 Queen of the Ring Tourney Kicks Off

Last weekend, WWE unveiled the official bracket for the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament, in which the winner will earn a world title match at SummerSlam. Amongst this year’s competitors are a pair of current champions and last year’s tournament winner, Jade Cargill.

In Cargill’s case, she will open the 2026 iteration in a fatal-four-way bout also involving Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, and Charlotte Flair. At Clash In Italy, interference from Flair resulted in Cargill losing to WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. Now, the two will meet again in the QOTR, with Ruca and Valkyria also contributing to the first-round action.

Elsewhere, WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan has entered the tournament with the intention of “taking it all” at SummerSlam. Her first-round bout, set for next week’s WWE Raw, will pit her against Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Chelsea Green. Morgan’s Judgment Day stablemate Raquel Rodriguez is also amongst the bracket, in her case for another quarterfinal involving Bayley, Jacy Jayne, and Kiana James.

Earlier this week, the Queen of the Ring action officially kicked off with a four-way putting IYO SKY against Roxanne Perez, Giulia, and Lash Legend on Raw. SKY emerged victorious after landing an Over the Moonsault on Giulia.

The QOTR finals will take place at WWE Night of Champions, set for June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. SummerSlam will follow on August 1 and 2.
