Sol Ruca’s rise on WWE’s main roster has been one of the biggest success stories of the year, but it hasn’t come without criticism. Just a few weeks after being called up following WrestleMania 42, Ruca won the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship by defeating Becky Lynch at Clash in Italy.
However, not everyone believes she is ready for such a big spotlight. Some have questioned Ruca’s experience level, pointed out mistakes in the ring, and argued that her push happened too quickly.
Sol Ruca, however, doesn’t seem bothered by the criticism.
Sol Ruca fires back at doubters over her championship pedigree
Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Ruca talked about what winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship means to her and how she handles the doubters.
“It feels really good. I’m not gonna lie. It is definitely like a confidence boost,” Ruca said. “I’ve said this on multiple interviews since getting this title, but it is a confidence boost to know that they see something in me, and that this is where I’m supposed to be.”
Ruca then admitted she is aware of the criticism but believes her championship win proves WWE has confidence in her.
“They think that I don’t have what it takes, or it’s too soon, or whatever whatever. But, I mean, I’m the one sitting here with the Intercontinental Championship and I think it’s right where it belongs,” she said.
Much of the criticism has come from her rapid rise on the main roster. Since joining RAW, Ruca has occasionally received criticism online for issues with the execution of her Sol Snatcher finisher. Others have questioned whether she was pushed into the title picture before fully developing as a performer.
Despite that, WWE crowds have continued to support her, and the company has shown no signs of slowing down her momentum.
