Tessa Blanchard Says She Turned Down TNA Offer Before Choosing CMLL

Tessa Blanchard says she has no hard feelings about getting released by TNA Wrestling.

Blanchard was released by TNA Wrestling after she requested her release from the company. According to a recent report from PWInsider, Blanchard was unable to continue working with CMLL and TNA Wrestling due to the latter’s relationship with WWE. Politics seemingly came into play, as WWE is not only a partner with TNA, but they also own AAA, a known competitor to CMLL.

Blanchard broke her silence about the situation with an initial statement on CMLL Informa, where she said that TNA asked her to choose sides and work for them or CMLL. Now, Blanchard has gone into more detail in a video posted on her YouTube channel.

Blanchard explained that when she signed with TNA, the understanding was that she could continue working for CMLL in Mexico. She says that it went well for a while, but the situation changed and she was forced to make a decision.

“As time went on and business evolved, leadership changed, partnerships changed, network deals changed, the direction of the company just shifted,” Blanchard explained. “Eventually, I was asked to make a decision to either continue with TNA or continue with CMLL.”

Tessa Blanchard says TNA made her an offer to stick around

Blanchard clarified that she completely understands TNA’s position as a business, and reiterated that she has “absolutely no resentment or ill feelings” toward anyone in the company. She also said TNA made her an offer to stay, but did not share specifics about the deal.

“In fact, they wanted me to stay,” she revealed. “They made me an offer to continue with the company and I’m unbelievably blessed for that. TNA, it’s been such an important part of my career. It’s been such a vital chapter of my career. [TNA is] where I became Knockouts Champion. It’s where I became the first woman to hold a World Heavyweight Championship, it’s where I made history. It’s where I had some of my favorite matches and created memories that I’ll carry with me forever.”

In the end, Tessa Blanchard realized her life was in Mexico

Blanchard said she would miss the wrestlers and people behind the scenes that made TNA what it is. However, after some deep thought, she realized her heart, and her life, was in Mexico.

“I’ve built a life here; I’ve got a relationship here. I’ve got a company that I’m thriving in and I have co-workers and luchadoras that are just some of the best in the world. CMLL really gave me an opportunity when I needed one most,” Blanchard explained.

“CMLL really gave me an opportunity when I needed one most and they welcomed me with open arms. They reminded me why I fell in love with wrestling in the first place and Mexico, it’s become so much more than a place where I work. It’s become my home.”
