OVW CEO Teases Developmental Role in Upcoming TNA Partnership

Ohio Valley Wrestling and TNA Wrestling appear to be moving closer to a renewed working relationship, with OVW CEO Rob Edwards confirming that discussions between the two sides are in the final stages.

While the full picture has yet to be revealed, Edwards recently hinted that talent development could be a major piece of the puzzle.

Speaking to Cultaholic, Edwards explained that both promotions are still working through the final details of the agreement.

However, he suggested the partnership could extend far beyond a traditional developmental setup, leaving fans wondering what shape the relationship will ultimately take.

Edwards noted that one of the biggest benefits would be creating additional opportunities for wrestlers to gain valuable television experience.

“We’re still ironing out the logistics of everything. There’s the developmental aspect of it. We have the opportunity to give talent TV time, regular programming, there’s an opportunity to develop in and outside the ring,” Edwards said.

The OVW CEO also highlighted the value of the promotion’s extensive content library, which includes more than 1,400 episodes. According to Edwards, content monetization, shared resources, commercial opportunities, and operational efficiencies are all part of the discussions.

“There’s a lot of potential rather than just OVW being a developmental territory,” he explained. “We see it as mutually beneficial for both sides.”

The talks mark a significant development given the history between the promotions. OVW previously served as a developmental territory for TNA from 2011 to 2014, and the two sides are now looking to add another chapter together.

Edwards believes the current wrestling landscape makes such a partnership a natural fit.

“The dynamic of the wrestling scene is changing,” Edwards said. “There’s still elements that we’re working through, hoping to conclude over the next few weeks.”

According to PWInsider, OVW could effectively function as a developmental system for TNA. Edwards stopped short of confirming the exact structure, but stressed that the arrangement “makes complete sense for both sides.”

If finalized, the partnership could provide a new pipeline for talent while strengthening ties between two promotions that already share a lengthy and storied history.
