CM Punk is reportedly returning to WWE very soon.
Former World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has been absent from WWE television since his appearance on RAW after WrestleMania 42. Amid rumors of a rift between him and the promotion, which were later debunked, Punk kept himself busy and underwent an impressive physical transformation during his time away. He also enjoyed a vacation with his wife, AJ Lee.
Now, WrestleVotes Radio (via Fightful Select) reports that WWE sources expect CM Punk to return on the July 6 episode of RAW in Chicago. They had previously noted that there was no heat between him and the company, and a return for Punk in Chicago was always the preferred plan. Earlier reports also indicated that The Straight Edge Superstar “pushed very hard” to make his return at the event.
A source at Allstate Arena, the venue of next week’s RAW, noted that WWE hasn’t informed them of any changes in CM Punk’s promotional status for the event, which is why he is still being heavily advertised for the show.
Despite his return reportedly taking place on RAW, recent reports indicated that WWE plans to move CM Punk to SmackDown, as a balancing measure since the red brand has more star power. Punk also teased the move during his recent appearance at an MMA event. The company plans to insert him into a feud with Cody Rhodes, which was teased during their interaction on RAW after WrestleMania 42.
Besides CM Punk’s reported return, the July 6 episode of RAW will also feature Sami Zayn defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes.
