WrestleZone’s Top 10: Cody Rhodes Moments in WWE

Number 4: A Gruesome Transformation

Rey Mysterio

Leave it to a veteran like Rey Mysterio to accidentally turn a guy’s gimmick around. Cody Rhodes had his nose broken by Mysterio by a faulty 619. This may have been a blessing in disguise because Rhodes became obsessed with how he looked. After turning a dark corner, Rhodes became demented and dangerous. His flashy colors went to black and brown. His music took a twist to a dark side. Rhodes completely turned his character around and was compelling to watch. He missed Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, but it was all about his attacks on Mysterio heading into WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta. With a new found gimmick and an even more amazing transformation, Rhodes was must-see television. I loved the way he shows his ability to adapt to new situations. Cody Rhodes’ best character, although it did not last long, was when he put the mask on and was able to tap into a scary side. He would go on to defeat Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania, another sign that WWE had the most confidence in him.
