Title This: WWE Smackdown Reaction “Tag Team Division in Disarray”

The State of the WWE Tag Team Division

smackdown reactionAfter a really good match between Harper/Rowan and Stardust/Goldust, it became apparent to me what the WWE is doing with this division. They have NO idea what the hell they are doing because they are giving faces a chance to fight…well…faces. The Uso’s vs. Goldust/Stardust would be better if we had Goldust from the Attitude Era. Think about the creativity and intensity that they could get out of Jimmy and Jey if Goldust throws back to what made him intriguing and an Intercontinental Champion 15 years ago.

WWE is in a lose/lose situation because, contradicting myself a bit, but Goldust and Stardust are the only tag team that has not been buried yet. The word buried is thrown around, but the Wyatt Family should have won the WWE Tag Team Championships months ago. Since they did not, we get the same lack of creative direction from them without Bray. Rybaxel is lost and has little relevancy. Who else is there? Now might be the time for The Ascension. With the NXT having a tournament for their next Number 1 Contenders, I expect them to drop the titles and head to the main roster by October. That could be their saving grace.

Reigns and Miz headline Smackdown tonight. Randy Orton watches from the stage and slowly heads down to the ring. Roman hits a clothesline to the outside and throws Miz back into the ring. Miz slugs away at his back and takes down the bigger opponent. Reigns deadlifts him up and hits a Samoan Drop. Orton continues to play mind games and Miz blasts Reigns in the face with multiple punches. He hits a big kick and gets a two count. The Miz tries for Skull Crushing Finale, but Reigns counters with a Spear for the win.

After the match, Randy and Roman begin to fight again. Orton gets a steel chair and hits Reigns in the stomach. He hits Reigns in the back with the chair. Roman Reigns gets the chair and unloads onto Orton. He sets up for a Superman Punch and connects. Orton slithers away and Reigns stands tall to end the night.

Not the most exciting ending to Smackdown. I wonder why WWE has not pulled the trigger on Triple H and Roman Reigns. I really want to see that big match sooner rather than later. There is no need for another rematch between these two guys. The face won clean. There is not much else you can do with these guys. Let Orton focus on someone else and help a younger guy get over.

Who would you pair Orton with after he is done with Roman Reigns? @JoshIsenberg4 on Twitter.
