THE REVIEW: WWE Royal Rumble 2015 – Featuring a Complete Breakdown of the Single Worst-Booked Match in WWE History

Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan were all up next. Rowan, who wasn’t in the match, attacked Curtis Axel from behind and took his spot. Except he didn’t actually take his spot. Either there were only 29 men in this 30-man Rumble match, or Axel is technically the 2015 Royal Rumble winner the minute Roman Reigns goes over a top rope. The potential Wyatt Family reunion was another great spot initially, and showed that we can still be invested in these three guys.

Bray Wyatt - WWE Royal RumbleAnd then they ruined everything by having them all flop around for 30 seconds, ultimately leading to nothing.

This is where it started to hit me that WWE booked this match using crumpled up suggestions in a gold fish bowl. Enter the Boogeyman to make Bray Wyatt look even more like a cartoon character. No worms, no bumps, no nothing.

Sin Cara came and went, and nobody cared.

As I was about to lose interest completely, Bray grabbed the mic and made an open invitation to anyone, daring the roster to take the ultimate prize from him. Immediately you assume, this is it – somebody big is coming out.

Zack. F***ing. Ryder.

Daniel Bryan was out next to the pop of the night. What I have to assume happened, because the alternative is just blowing my mind it’s so bad, is that Bray Wyatt messed up his timing with the promo, and intended to make the challenge for Bryan. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME. If Ryder was the intentional answer to the promo, fire whoever thought it was a good idea. Twice.
