Sexy Star Set To Make MMA Debut, Signs Exclusive Multi Fight Deal With Combate Americas

According to a report by The Wrap, former Lucha Underground wrestler Sexy Star is scheduled to make her MMA debut for the mixed martial arts league Combate Americas. Dulce Maria Garcia is undefeated as a professional boxer (5-0), but has never fought under MMA rules. That will all change when she makes her Combate Americas debut April 12th in her home town of Monterrey, Mexico.

Sexy Star was the first woman to win the Lucha Underground Championship and is a three time Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide Champion; but, despite her impressive accolades, Star’s professional wrestling career was marred by controversy. During 2017’s AAA TripleMania XXV, Rosemary accused Sexy Star of intentionally injuring her with an armbar during a match. Sexy Star questioned the authenticity of Rosemary’s claims and injuries, but the incident forced Sexy Star to vacate her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship and has tarnished Garcia’s reputation in the world of professional wrestling.

Sexy Star left Lucha Underground after the show’s second season to pursue combat sports and will receive an opportunity through Combate Americas, who has signed the former wrestler to an exclusive multi-fight deal.

Former president of Combate Americas Alberto El Patron tweeted the following about the signing, noting that the company is making history by signing Sexy Star, the first woman to wrestle, box, and fight MMA style:
