Triple H Comments On Roman Reigns Pulling Himself From WrestleMania, Says Talent Is There In A Voluntary Capacity

Triple H says WWE is doing everything they can to stay safe and entertain people, and it’s nothing more than that.

“The Game” was a guest on ESPN SportsCenter and talked about the coronavirus leading to WrestleMania 36 going on without fans in attendance. Considering himself “full-time office” now, HHH confirmed he wasn’t scheduled to be in the ring at WrestleMania 36 and added that he was thankful not to have a match because he wouldn’t be able to do both jobs due to how crazy things have been. Triple H says they’ve taken every precaution they can, including following CDC guidelines and taping with limited talent and closed sets. He says they wanted to continue on and put smiles on people’s faces but they are taking safety very seriously.

Triple H was asked about the Roman Reigns versus Goldberg match being changed due to Reigns pulling out of the match, and he said he didn’t want to get into specifics but the talent is performing on the upcoming events on a voluntary basis.

“If they don’t want to be part of it or they feel there’s a risk—for whatever reason, themselves or somebody around them—they don’t have to be here. Nothing is held against them for that, and the same with our crew and everybody else. We don’t want to take chances on that and with Roman having a pre-existing condition that would make him more susceptible to something, it’s understandable.

“We’ve had very few talent that had issues or have chosen not to be here where we’re at. For us—at least for me—it’s been an amazing process to be able to go to these events, everybody is under immense pressure. Obviously there’s a ton of work going into these and trying to do them. Even the talent, performing in front of no one, is not the easiest thing in the world. And yet everybody is here, I think they just feel a sense of purpose. They’re laughing, smiling, having a blast. These have been some of the most fun days of television of everybody just staying in the rules but happily going to do it and trying to perform a service and I don’t think people should look at it as anything more than that. We’re trying to put a smile on your face. If you enjoy it, hopefully you do and that’s great.”

Despite HHH’s comments confirming Reigns is not competing at WrestleMania, WWE is still advertising the match against Goldberg and a segment for this week’s episode of SmackDown.
