Jaxson Ryker Comments On His Future After WWE Release, Says ‘Gunner Is Reborn’

After being released by WWE last week, Jaxson Ryker took to social media to comment on his newfound free agency.

In a Twitter post, Ryker teased the return of “Gunner,” a name the superstar had gone by prior to his time in WWE. He also noted that he was very excited by the future, and would be hitting up some independent shows “eventually,” as well as having opportunities with the ministry.

Jaxson Ryker (Chad Lail) joined WWE in May 2017 and made his in-ring debut the following month for the NXT brand. He primarily spent his run as a member of the Forgotten Sons stable on NXT and SmackDown. The group was pulled from television after Ryker expressed his support for President Donald Trump during the Black Lives Matter movement and the George Floyd protests in June 2020. He later returned as a singles performer on RAW, then aligned with Elias until May of this year. The two feuded during the summer, and Ryker’s last match with the company took place on the November 1 episode of WWE Main Event, a loss to Cedric Alexander.

Prior to WWE, Ryker was best known for his run as Gunner in TNA Wrestling, where he was a TNA Television Champion and TNA World Tag Team Champion.

Ryker was one of eight performers released earlier this week.
