Tony Khan: ‘A Top Wrestler’ Will Step Through The Forbidden Door And Debut On 2/9 AEW Dynamite

AEW President Tony Khan has left fans on the edge of their seats ahead of next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It was revealed on the February 4 episode of AEW Rampage that Khan will make a “huge announcement” on Wednesday night.

In a tweet after the show went off the air, Khan offered more information. He stated that “a top wrestler will walk through the Forbidden Door” and debut on AEW Dynamite.

In a subsequent tweet, Khan stated that the Forbidden Door is open to anyone from any promotion, regardless of AEW’s relationship with the promotion. He referenced that the newcomer could come from “a company that’s open for business”, and they’re also “welcome to slam the door in the face of their prior company.”

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio on Friday, Khan teased his plans to make more free agent signings and deliver some major news in the week ahead:

“Just in the last several weeks, we’ve made some big ones, and I plan to make some more big signings, and not in the long-term future, I mean in the short-term future,” said Khan. “I’ll still be very active in the free agent market, and the Forbidden door shall be opening again very soon. So I’m really looking forward to Rampage tonight and I guarantee you, we’ll make some news coming out of this night’s show. And then we’ll have some big news next week, too.”

AEW also announced that the Face Of Revolution qualifying matches will begin on Wednesday night. The winners of these bouts will go on to compete in the ladder match for a shot at the TNT Championship at the Revolution pay-per-view.

Khan later tweeted that the debuting wrestler will face Isiah Kassidy in a qualifying match for the Face of the Revolution ladder match and sign a contract with AEW.

To avoid any confusion, Khan confirmed that the two announcements are about the same person; a debuting talent will step through the Forbidden Door, sign a contract with AEW, and compete against Kassidy on Wednesday night.
