CM Punk Has No Timetable For A Return, Tony Khan Says He’s Doing Well In His Recovery

Tony Khan says CM Punk is working hard to get back in the ring.

During his ROH Death Before Dishonor post-show media scrum, Tony Khan was asked for a potential injury update on CM Punk and if fans could expect to see him back by Labor Day Weekend. Khan said CM Punk is doing well, but went on to explain why he didn’t want to give a definitive answer or timetable for a return.

“He’s doing well in his recovery. He was at [San Diego Comic-Con] today. I didn’t see his panel, we obviously saw that Bryan Danielson announced his return there,” Khan explained. “I don’t know exactly what [Punk said at the panel] but I know he’s doing well in his recovery. I don’t want to scoop anything he might have said at the Comic-Con panel, but he’s doing well.

“He’s not behind in his recovery. I wouldn’t want to step on anything [he’s doing] but I haven’t spoken to him since he did the panel. But going into the panel, he’s on track and we look forward to a great unification match when he’s back, whoever the Interim Champion is,” Khan stated.

Khan was once asked again about Labor Day weekend being a possibility, a clear reference to All Elite Wrestling’s All Out event. Khan said he couldn’t speak to that and wanted to stress that Punk is working hard to make sure his return is sooner than later.

“I can’t rule it out but I also can’t promise. I don’t want to say anything when it comes to somebody’s recovery from a real serious injury. He’s really battling hard to get back as soon as he possibly can.”

During the aforementioned AEW panel in San Diego, CM Punk did end up addressing his status and said he currently has no timeline for a return. He said that his foot was shattered and it’s still healing, but it’s not healed yet.
