Report: Former NXT Superstar Oney Lorcan At The WWE Performance Center This Week

Could former NXT Superstar Oney Lorcan be on his way back to WWE?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Oney Lorcan is serving as a guest coach this week at the WWE Performance Center. It’s currently unknown at this time if the company is looking to bring Lorcan back in any capacity.

Lorcan was released from WWE back in November of 2021 and reverted back to his original in-ring name of Biff Busick as he returned to the independent scene.

Throughout 2022, Lorcan has worked for various independents like Game Changer Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and Beyond. Despite returning to the indie scene, Busick has not wrestled since he lost to Alec Price at Beyond’s Please Come Back III event on June 12.

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Busick reflected on his time in NXT and described how he got “burned out” throughout the height of the pandemic era due to the lack of a live crowd.

“When COVID hit and we had to do those shows without a crowd at the [WWE Performance Center], or when they started bringing people in, it just wasn’t the same,” said Busick. “I was burned out from those circumstances.

“William Regal would always tell me there were two types of shows—large arena shows and small room shows. They are different environments, and they both have their positives, but I’ve always been a fan of smaller room shows. To be so close and personal, and be so close to the fans, especially in Beyond, it’s an experience unlike any other. This is where I cut my teeth, and I’m really excited to get back and wrestle.”

Busick also credited Regal for his landing in WWE in the first place. Read more about the fond memories Busick had during his six-year tenure in the company here.
