Promotional Material For AEW Fight Forever Is Finished

AEW Fight Forever still doesn’t have a release date but the game is just waiting for the green light to start promoting it heavily.

According to a report from Insider Gaming‘s Mike Straw, the promotional material for AEW Fight Forever is finished. Fightful first reported promotional material was being filmed by talent earlier this year, and Insider Gaming now reports all of that content is finished. The content includes anything that needed to be filmed, edited and updated, but there’s still no indication as to when promotion will actually begin.

AEW Fight Forever was announced in November 2020. The game was initially expected to release in 2022, but the release date still has not been announced. Aside from a few initial gameplay trailers and some on-air graphics during AEW TV, Fight Forever has not gotten a full-scale ad campaign yet.

THQ Nordic Global Senior Community Manager Zyddies recently said the game isn’t ready to be released as of yet. Zyddies went into detail about the work that the development team needed to do but assured fans that AEW Fight Forever was still in “a good state.”

“The game is in a good state. And as soon as we do launch it, I think people will be happy. Then everybody will just forget about all the other stuff, and everybody will be happy and enjoy it,” Zyddies said. “And that’s what I’ve been trying to explain to people development can already be sorted and stuff, but that doesn’t mean the game is done.

Insider Gaming sources claim that the game is ready from a development standpoint “aside from ongoing bug fixes and updates that will be worked on all the way through launch and beyond.”

One other reason for the game’s delayed launch was that it did not get the Teen rating the developer desired from the ERSB board. WrestleZone’s Matt Black reported that this was a reason for delay, noting that the amount of blood and gore prevented the game from achieving that rating on multiple occasions.

Kenny Omega would go on to confirm Black’s report on an episode of the Swerve City Podcast, noting that the rating had held back the game’s release.

“Yeah. I’m not sure how much we had to scale it back, but man, I freakin loved it,” Omega said. “You could make the ring looks like a murder scene if you wanted to. I just hope that there’s still some way to get a semblance of that. I hope we didn’t have to dumb it down too much. It was fun, man. It’s just what we get every week on TV anyway, you know? It could get gory, but it’s like, no one’s getting dismembered. No one’s dying. I mean, maybe it could look that way if you beat someone up that bad. But again, there are a lot of things we haven’t shown in the game yet.”
