Alongside the highly anticipated return of John Cena, two segments have been announced for the September 1 episode of WWE SmackDown.
As confirmed during the August 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar will face Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Mysterio will defend the WWE United States Championship against Theory at WWE Payback.
Elsewhere in the show, Jimmy Uso will return following his shocking betrayal of Jey Uso at SummerSlam. On the August 11 episode of SmackDown, Jimmy tried to explain his actions to Jey, but the latter wound up kicking him and walking out of WWE.
As previously announced, 16-time world champion John Cena will make his return on the September 1 episode of WWE SmackDown.
The updated card is as follows:
- John Cena returns
- WWE United States Champion Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs. Austin Theory and Grayson Waller
- Jimmy Uso returns
