After weeks of supporting him when the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society had abandoned him, Sammy Guevara turned on Chris Jericho in a stunning display tonight.
During Wednesday’s AEW Grand Slam-themed episode of AEW Dynamite, Guevara and Jericho faced off in what was supposed to be a match between two friends, with the pair even shaking hands before it started.
Toward the end of the match, after some back-and-forth big moves and near falls, Guevara wasn’t able to come away with the win after Jericho was somehow able to hit a Codebreaker just as Guevara was going for his shooting star press.
After the match was over, however, things fell apart and Guevara seemed to abandon his friendship with Jericho. The pair hugged it out after the match, but then, in a scene reminiscent of Jericho kicking Shawn Michaels below the belt after their match at WrestleMania 19, Guevara hit Chris with a low blow.
A stunned Jericho could only watch as Don Callis came down to the ring, and Guevara left with him, as the crowd booed heavily.
