Cody Rhodes Shares A Fun Fact About The Location Of The Old Intercontinental Title

One of the greatest highlights of Cody Rhodes‘ first stint in WWE came in 2011 when he re-introduced the ‘classic’ Intercontinental Championship belt. The white-colored strap was immediately accepted by the fans and went on to become a career-defining moment for Rhodes.

As beautiful as the white strap Intercontinental Championship was, it didn’t last even for a decade, unlike the classic design, which stuck around for many more years. WWE replaced the white Intercontinental Championship with its current design in 2019.

With that said, the title did become synonymous with Cody Rhodes during his “Undashing” era. Rhodes introduced the design before Hell in a Cell 2011. He ended up having a successful defense against John Morrison in an impromptu match at the October 2nd PPV event.

The American Nightmare recently dropped a fun fact about the title. Rhodes said he gave the oval design belt to his father, Dusty Rhodes, before WWE took it back for an exhibit. He further stated that he recently got the belt back and it now belongs to his daughter, Liberty.

“Fun fact gave the oval design to Dusty Then WWE needed it back for an exhibit, but Ben Brown just recently returned it to me – it’s Libby’s now,” Cody Rhodes wrote on Twitter.

Cody Rhodes has a tag team title shot

Cody Rhodes will be looking to add another championship to his impressive catalog this Saturday, when he teams up with Jey Uso to take on Finn Balor and Damian Priest for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at Fastlane.

The match was announced this past Monday on RAW by Adam Pearce. The WWE matchmaker told Priest he was tired of the Judgment Day’s shenanigans and that they would be in action at the October 7 premium live event against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest will be on SmackDown this Friday ahead of their high-stakes match.
