Gunther To Reveal Stipulation for Cody Rhodes Rematch Set for WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes and Gunther are officially set to run it back for the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, one major detail remains a mystery ahead of their highly anticipated rematch.

Following the fallout from WWE Clash in Italy, WWE confirmed that Gunther will reveal a special stipulation for the championship bout during the June 12 episode of SmackDown in Providence, Rhode Island.

With the title match scheduled for the following week, fans won’t have to wait long to learn what challenge “The Ring General” has in mind.

Gunther to choose terms for Cody Rhodes Championship rematch

The rematch stems from the controversial ending to their title clash at Clash in Italy. During that match, Rhodes retained the Undisputed WWE Championship after pinning Gunther. However, the referee failed to see that the challenger’s foot was clearly under the bottom rope during the count.

That disputed finish became the focal point of the June 5 edition of SmackDown from Bologna, Italy. Gunther opened the show demanding justice and arguing that the outcome should never have stood.

Rather than dismiss the complaint, Rhodes agreed that Gunther had a legitimate grievance. The champion even offered an immediate rematch. Nevertheless, those plans were interrupted when Sami Zayn entered the picture, leading to chaos instead of a title defense.

Later in the night, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis informed Rhodes that Gunther had accepted a rematch for June 19 in Kansas City, Missouri. However, there was one catch. Gunther would personally choose the stipulation and announce it on the June 12 episode of SmackDown.

Rhodes accepted the terms without hesitation, setting the stage for another showdown between two of WWE’s top stars. While the exact stipulation remains under lock and key for now, it’s clear that Gunther wants to ensure there are no questions left unanswered this time around.

With the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line and unfinished business hanging over the rivalry, all eyes now turn to Providence to see what condition Gunther places on the match before the two collide again in Kansas City.
