Paul Wight Claims Current AEW Champion Is A Modern-Day Ric Flair

It is safe to say that Paul Wight (F.K.A The Big Show) is a future Hall of Famer in WWE. The current AEW star recently shared his pick about who is the current generation’s Ric Flair.

Wight was recently interviewed by Johnny Maze on the T95 The Rock Station. According to the Wight, MJF, the current AEW World Champion, reminds him of the Nature Boy Ric Flair.

“When I look at MJF, because MJF is naturally cocky, you know he’s a hard worker, he’s got that swag to him,” he said. “He understands performing, he was a child star on Broadway, so he’s got some chops, got some talent. But he understands who he is, he understands what works.

“To me, there’s only one Ric Flair, but I look at MJF, he’s the most modern-day Ric Flair that I’ve seen. There’s heels that get heat and then there are guys like Ric Flair that you hate him. But then at the same time, you can’t wait to see what they say next … like Ric Flair, Roddy Piper,” Paul Wight said. [H/T Wrestling Inc.]

Maxwell Jacob Freidman is arguably one of the most successful stars in AEW. He is the current World Champion of the Jacksonville-based promotion. Recently, MJF overtook Keny Omega as the longest-reigning champion in the promotion.

The self-proclaimed Salt of the Earth is currently feuding with Switchblade Jay White and the rest of Bullet Club Gold. He will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against White at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view. In the Buy-in show, he’ll be defending his ROH Tag Team Titles against The Gunns.

Paul Wight also made his return to AEW recently and will be teaming up with Chris Jericho and his team at the pay-per-view.
