Maika Set To Challenge For Vacant World Of Stardom Title At Dream Queendom 2023

Maika defeated Momo Watanabe in the finals of a one-night tournament to compete for the vacant World of Stardom Championship at Dream Queendom later this year.

As previously reported, STARDOM held a one-night tournament at their recent Korakuen Hall show to determine the first of two challengers for the vacant World of Stardom Championship. Maika and Momo Watanabe advanced to the finals of the said tournament by defeating Ami Sohrei and Mina Shirakawa in the first round, respectively. However, the tournament victory ultimately went to Maika scoring the pinfall victory over Momo after her signature Michinoku Driver finish.

This win also guarantees Maika the main event spot at Stardom’s biggest annual event, Dream Queendom, on December 29th. Her opponent is yet to be decided in a match between Suzu Suzuki and Hazuki. Suzuki previously agreed to put her championship contendership rights from winning this year’s 5 Star Grand Prix on the line against Hazuki at Stardom’s upcoming Nagoya Big Winter show on December 2nd.

Maika also looks to become a two-belt champion come Dream Queendom as she, alongside her partner Megan Bayne, will battle Saya Kamitani and Utami Hayashishita at the same Nagoya Big Winter show for the vacant Goddess of Stardom Championship.

On top of her World Championship agenda, Maika claims to usher in a new era for the company soon with her eyes set on the IWGP Women’s Championship as well. Stardom currently faces a rocky situation with two of their top championships at a vacant status. But in a recent interview with Tokyo Sports, Maika promises to lead the company into a new regime as champion.
