Jon Moxley On His 14-Month Delayed Vacation: ‘I Feel That There’s Always Something To Do’

Jon Moxley thrives under pressure.

After losing the AEW World Championship to CM Punk at AEW All Out 2022, Jon Moxley was in line for a six-week vacation away from television. However, a backstage brawl (infamously known as Brawl Out), and subsequent suspensions, led Moxley to a quick return to the road to fill some of the void. Despite his personal plans getting derailed, Moxley embraced the opportunity to step back up into the main event scene.

“I feel like I thrive in those situations,” Moxley told ComicBook.com. “Scramble to the f–king jets and get Moxley in the air. Oh f–k, we don’t have a main event. You’ve got to make people care about this and make this a main event in a week. I just pull main events out of my a– when I’m in those situations. I feel more comfortable when I’m the guy with the ball in the fourth quarter. It’s hard to not want to grab the ball and take the shot myself.”

Upon his return, Moxley was placed in the AEW Grand Slam Tournament of Champions. On the September 21, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite, Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson to begin his third reign as AEW World Champion. Though Moxley dropped the title to MJF at AEW Full Gear two months later, he continued to be a top contributor to the AEW product. 14 months later, Moxley attests that he’s in no hurry to cash in on his time off.

“I don’t even think I was going to go anywhere, I don’t know, maybe at some point [I’ll take time off]. I guess I feel that there’s always something to do,” Moxley said. “Oh, we need a main event. Oh, we got this Continental Classic. There’s always something around the corner.”
