Gunther Is Ready For Another Fight With Sheamus, But He Enjoys Him Being Away Right Now

Gunther likes Sheamus right where is.

Former WWE Champion Sheamus has been out of action for over six months now, with his last match taking place against Edge on the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown. In the months following this match, it was reported that Sheamus had sustained a “really bad” shoulder injury.

Though he may be sidelined, Sheamus’ injury hasn’t discouraged him from sending provoking messages to his fellow WWE colleagues.

Earlier this month, “The Celtic Warrior” delivered a congratulatory message to his Gunther, who recently surpassed 600 days as Intercontinental Champion. As he commended his recurring rival for this milestone, Sheamus also teased that he’d target Gunther upon his return to the ring.

Gunther Is Ready For Sheamus

While it is unknown when Sheamus will officially resurface on WWE programming, Gunther attests that he is prepared to face him again if he is called upon to do so.

“I’m definitely ready, but where he is right now, that’s where I like him the most — away. It’s a good place where he is, but we’ll see what happens,” Gunther told the Battleground Podcast.

Sheamus and Gunther, along with Drew McIntyre, previously battled in a critically-acclaimed triple triple-threat match at WrestleMania 39, which saw “The Ring General” successfully defend his Intercontinental Championship against the other two powerhouses. Sheamus bounced back with a win five few days later as The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, & Butch) defeated Imperium (Giovanni Vinci, Gunther & Ludwig Kaiser) in a six-man tag team action on WWE SmackDown.
