Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Announced For Boxing Match On Netflix In July

A boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has been announced to take place in July.

The fight pits the YouTube star against the former Heavyweight Champion of the world. It has been announced to take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

It comes 19 years after Tyson’s last professional fight against Kevin McBride. However, the 57-year-old has competed in exhibition events over the past few years.

The fight will be broadcast on Netflix in July later this year. It signals the streaming service’s first foray in the world of live boxing.

The event comes as part of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). The signed a deal with the streaming services earlier this year to broadcast the fight on Netflix.

Both men have previously appeared in the WWE. Tyson is a WWE Hall of Famer. He also appeared as a “special guest enforcer” for the main event of WrestleMania XIV, among other appearances.

Meanwhile, Paul came to his brother Logan Paul’s aid at WWE Crown Jewel 2022, helping fight off The Bloodline.

Jake Paul Wants To Become A Boxing World Champion

In a statement released after the fight was announced, Jake Paul revealed that he has aspirations of becoming the world champion in boxing. Beating Mike Tyson will be a stepping stone towards that.

His brother, Logan Paul, won the United States Championship in the WWE last year, and Paul looks to emulate his success, albeit in boxing.

“I could not be more excited to make this amazing fight available to all Netflix subscribers alongside the hardest hitter of all time, Mike Tyson,”

“My sights are set on becoming a world champion. Now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world. The baddest man on the planet, and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”

Meanwhile, Tyson complimented the YouTube star’s aptitude in the ring, but revealed he plans to “finish him” when the pair meet up in Texas later this year.

“He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years. It will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT,”

“It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch. I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”

Jake Paul has had 10 fights so far, winning nine and losing once to Tommy Fury.

Meanwhile, Mike Tyson retired with a record of 50 wins, 6 losses and 44 wins by knockout. The experience of “Iron” Mike should put him in good stead. However, the 30-year age difference should even the odds in this exhibition bout.
