Jack Perry Claims He Was Denied AEW Release, Disputes He ‘Continually Apologized’ For CM Punk Incident

A new report provides an update on Jack Perry‘s status in AEW following his backstage incident with CM Punk.

Perry and Punk were involved in a backstage incident at AEW All In, which led to Punk’s termination and Perry’s suspension. Perry then popped up at NJPW Battle in the Valley, where he ripped up what appeared to be his AEW contract. He recently wrapped up his first tour with NJPW. There have been claims that Perry has apologized to Tony Khan and asked for forgiveness, but Perry himself has reportedly shared his side.

Per Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, Jack Perry disputes the claim that he continually apologized or asked for forgiveness following the incident. He also disputes the claim that there are plans for his return to AEW.

According to Alvarez, Perry says that he did not hear from AEW CEO Tony Khan for two months following AEW AEW In. Perry stated that he did not text Khan to say he was sorry, and he informed Khan’s lawyers that he would not be the first to reach out. The report notes that Khan set up an in-person meeting ahead of AEW Full Gear, and they discussed plans for his return last December. However, these plans were scrapped after CM Punk returned to WWE.

Jack Perry’s Status With AEW

Alvarez writes that Perry wanted to work NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 but was unable to do so for logistical reasons. He then worked with Tony Khan and Rocky Romero to set up the run he is now on in NJPW.

The report notes that Perry remains under AEW contract, as he was denied when he asked for a release. Alvarez writes that there are no plans to bring him back, and he has not spoken to Khan in months. Additionally, Perry has not cleared anything that he has done in storyline in NJPW with Khan.

Khan recently said that fans would have to stay tuned regarding Perry’s future in AEW, and he praised his work in NJPW.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
