Finn Balor Still Gets Requests For The Demon, But Now Is ‘Certainly Not The Time’

Finn Balor says there’s a time and a place, but it’s not Demon time right now.

Balor introduced his “Demon” persona after he joined the NXT brand in 2014. The character has been very popular with fans. However, the Demon could be seen as a detriment in some ways, with some fans calling for more of the Demon without giving Balor’s then-current gimmicks more time to catch on.

Finn Balor used the persona more sparingly after his return to NXT between 2019–2021. He donned the bodypaint for a match against Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules 2021, and more recently against Edge in Hell In A Cell at WrestleMania 39. Both of those, especially the latter, felt more special because it was not a given that the Demon would return.

Since Balor joined the successful Judgement Day stable, it feels like there’s been less of a demand for the Demon. Balor said he still gets some requests for it, but it’s not time to go back now.

Demon in the future?

“Yeah, I still get some requests. But I feel like there’s a time and a place for the demon, and now is certainly not the time. I’m very invested in what we’re doing now,” Balor explained to WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WrestleMania Media Day.

“We’re doing something completely new with the Judgment Day. It’s been working for us in the last two years. I’m sure in the future, there’ll be a place for the Demon,” he added, “but right now I’m very confident and focused on what we’re doing with the Judgment Day.”

Judgment Day lost the WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 40, but the event was a success overall. Rhea Ripley retained her title, while Damian Priest won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the opening match of night two.
