The backstory for the mysterious El Grande Americano was revealed during Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, in a video that some fans are criticizing due to its alleged AI construction.
In the video, the brief vignette of Americano’s backstory explains that the superstar comes from the “Gulf of America,” and quickly climbed the lucha libre charts before being blackballed by jealous opponents, and disappearing from the ring.
Fans online were quick to point out that the video looked like something created using generative Ai, with fans criticizing the move and hoping that future content from the company doesn’t also include AI usage.
El Grande Americano — who hasn’t been confirmed to be Chad Gable, but who almost certainly is — also took part in a match against Dragon Lee today. Americano won the match after unmasking Lee and forcing him to tap out to an ankle lock, a staple move for Gable.
