Logan Paul actually loves Japan, but he’ll go back when it makes the most sense.
In 2017, Logan Paul posted a video of himself visiting Aokigahara, a forest at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan. Over time, Aokigahara took on the unfortunate nickname of the “suicide forest” due to the large number of people who end their lives there. Paul received a huge amount of backlash after recording himself next to the body of a man who appeared to have killed himself.
Paul apologized and said he intended for the video to raise awareness for suicide prevention, not an attempt to gain views. The damage had been done, however, as many people, including The Rock, broke off all contact with the YouTube star. Paul also lost subscribers and advertisers after the incident, and Paul was rumored to be banned from the country.
Logan Paul was recently asked about potentially going back to Japan by Adin Ross on his IMPAULSIVE podcast. Paul said he would love to go back, but it has to be done the right way.
“Would you ever go back to Japan? It would go crazy,” Adin Ross asked Paul.
“Adin, I love Japan. Do you want to hear something? [It’s] my favorite country on Earth,” Logan Paul said. “I just don’t want to — I have to do it the right way. I’d like to be invited, like maybe if WWE does an event there.”
Ross said would be a great full-circle moment to see Paul go back before Paul’s co-host, Mike Majlak, joked that he might screw up again.
Is Logan Paul actually banned from Japan?
Despite claims that the suicide forest incident resulted in a ban, Logan Paul has denied being banned from Japan. Earlier this year, Paul was not part of WWE’s live event tour of Japan, and fans speculated that this was due to the ban being in effect.
However, he told Dominik Mysterio that he had “prior obligations” that prevented him from appearing. Paul also said that he wants to go back to Japan by invitation, echoing his recent remarks to Ross.
“Bro, Dom! What do you think? Yes, I can go to Japan. I can go to Japan! I’m not excommunicado. I’ve never said this before, but my rule was if I went back, I’d like to be invited back. I just haven’t gotten the invite yet. Probably my best bet is the WWE,” Logan Paul said. “I love Japan, I actually love Japan. Tokyo is like a giant arcade game. It is the cleanest, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and my favorite city in the world. And I f*ck it all up, and I hate that.”
