Two weeks ago, at the Saturday Night’s Main Event special event, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg competed in his final match in the Stamford-based promotion. He challenged the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, for the championship. The Hall of Famer recently credited Triple H for making his retirement match possible.
Justin Barrasso recently interviewed Goldberg for the Boston Herald. During the interview, the WWE Hall of Famer praised the Chief Content Officer, Triple H, for making the match happen.
“I couldn’t have done any of that on Saturday night without him. That’s the truth, one thousand percent.”
Goldberg also mentioned that his entire career has always been a team effort.
“I never thought a Jewish boy from Tulsa, Oklahoma would ever hear his name chanted all over the world. I didn’t do it alone – the help I got was immeasurable. It was a lot more than a one-man show. I had an idea of what was going to work, and I brought it to Eric Bischoff. He had the trust in me to see it through. I never imagined it would be anywhere close to as big as it was.”
The multiple-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion also shared that he is always grateful for the fans.
“This was more like a movement. My fans, I’m forever grateful for them,” Goldberg said.
Despite saying he had fun overall, Goldberg recently pointed out some of the issues that upset him about the build to his retirement match. Goldberg’s remarks weren’t appreciated by many in the wrestling world, who claimed he came off as being ungrateful for the opportunity.
