Dominik Mysterio still holds a grudge with his parents that has lasted 20 years.
Mysterio, the current Intercontinental Champion, spoke with Graham Matthews of Bleacher Report at SummerSlam weekend. This year marked 20 years since he made his on-air debut during the “Custody of Dominik” storyline that culminated in a ladder match between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam 2005.
Dominik received his first WWE paycheck for the event, but he says that his parents stole the money from him. Dominik said he got a bike out of the deal, but it cost a fraction of the $5000 check he got from WWE.
“Yes, my parents, they stole that money from me when I was a kid. They said it was saved. I bought a $200 bike,” Dominik explained. “I got paid five grand, I bought a $200 bike, and they said it’s done. They’re like, ‘Oh, your money’s gone.’
“But I just recently found out in an interview about my deadbeat dad that he apparently used that money as a down payment for one of my cars when I was a kid,” Dominik continued. “Which was — can I cuss on here? It was bullshit, because that was mine! I worked for that, [Rey] didn’t go and bump, he didn’t do any of that.”
Dominik went on to say that he held another grudge with The Miz, who used to say that he was his favorite wrestler. Now as an adult, The Miz is Dominik’s favorite wrestler, and it sucks because The Miz was right.
