Natalya shared her excitement for the Nattie Neidhart character and explained why she didn’t wait for WWE or Triple H to create it.
This year, the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion surprised fans by bringing her Nattie Neidhart persona to the independent wrestling scene. The persona is a more intense and aggressive version of her WWE persona. She has showcased her side as Nattie Neidhart in promotions like the NWA, Reality of Wrestling, AAA, and Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport.
As Natalya makes waves with her Nattie Neidhart character. She explained on Busted Open Radio that she built it entirely on her own. She stressed that she didn’t rely on anyone else for ideas and focused on creating and showing the character on her own terms.
“I’m so passionate about what I’ve built alone, I built Nattie alone. I did not have any help building her. I did not have, and this isn’t a diss to WWE, this isn’t a diss to anyone, this is just me speaking from my heart. I’ve worked on her alone; I didn’t wait for anybody to come to me with an idea. I didn’t wait for the machine to get behind it. I just wanted to build her and show everyone.”
Natalya says wrestlers can’t wait for others to hand them opportunities in WWE
“I’ve been in WWE for a long time, and I’m telling you… You cannot wait for other people to just hand you sh*t. You cannot just wait for the writers to come up with a grandiose idea or for Triple H to be like, ‘Hey, I was thinking, ‘ they have so much going on. This company is ever-moving; it’s moving so fast.”
“I mean, Triple H has got like 18 jobs. He’s now got a job at the White House. He’s the busiest person I’ve ever met in my life. Thankfully, he’s young and energetic, and he’s able to do all of it. But I’m not going to wait for him to come up with the perfect idea for me, because to me, those moments, you’ve got to find inspiration in yourself. Nobody knows Nattie better than Nattie knows Nattie.” [H/T: WrestlePurists]
