Alberto Del Rio Lands Reality TV Role After AAA Exit

Alberto Del Rio‘s AAA days may be behind him, but that doesn’t mean he’s stepping away from television altogether.

The former WWE star is set to appear in the Mexican reality TV show La Granja VIP on Azteca Uno. The show follows a concept similar to Big Brother, where celebrities live together for months away from home.

Del Rio’s participation was announced on TV Azteca’s social media, with more celebrities expected to join the lineup. La Granja VIP is scheduled to premiere on October 12.

Alberto Del Rio attacked production crew member on Mexican TV

Also known as El Patron, Del Rio previously made headlines for attacking production crew members during the build-up to his AAA Mega Title match against El Hijo del Vikingo. Among those attacked was Vikingo’s father, which led many to believe the incident was a shoot.

Del Rio eventually dropped the title to Vikingo at AAA Alianzas on May 31, after WWE announced its acquisition of the Mexican promotion. His final singles match for the promotion took place in July, where he lost to El Mesias under the stipulation that he would leave AAA if defeated.

Vikingo later dropped the title to Dominik Mysterio at the latest WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event. Although a previous report suggested that “many in WWE” wanted El Patron to return, his controversial reputation has made a comeback under Triple H’s leadership highly unlikely.
