The Undertaker looks back on the end of his WrestleMania streak.
Heading into WWE WrestleMania 30, The Undertaker boasted an illustrious 21-0 streak at WWE’s grandest premium live event. Of course, that changed at WrestleMania 30 itself as “The Phenom” lost to “The Beast” Brock Lesnar after taking multiple F5s.
Since then, many fans and pundits have questioned the decision to make Lesnar The Streak ender. As The Undertaker recently explained on Six Feet Under, the move wasn’t his to call.
“It’s not my decision. People ask me all the time, ‘Well, why did you do it?’ Well, I didn’t really have a choice. I guess I did have a choice. I didn’t have to do it,” Undertaker said before joking about the alternative. “And then what happens? And then me and Brock are having to shoot at WrestleMania, and then it wouldn’t have been good. I mean, might have taken it easy on him.” (H/T to WrestlingNewsCo for the transcription).
Given the direction he was given by WWE officials for that particular match, The Undertaker noted that he still tried to make the best of it, even with the concussion he sustained early on.
“You have to look at this business…there’s a lot of people that probably didn’t want to put me over to get me into that position, and they did it, and it’s just kind of the way it works,” he said. “Wasn’t my decision. So I had to make the best of the hand that was dealt me.”
