Drew McIntyre has probably taken more finishers than he’s given, but there’s one match-ender in particular that the Scottish Warrior hates.
WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre is once again eyeing the Undisputed Title. He failed to defeat Cody Rhodes for the championship at Wrestlepalooza after attempting to put the champion through the announce table with his Claymore finisher.
Speaking of the Claymore, McIntyre was asked to recall his “nastiest Claymore” by O’Shea Jackson Jr. during a recent appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast. Drew took the opportunity to mock Jacob Fatu for his “injury” on SmackDown before revealing that Samoa Joe was the recipient of the stiffest Claymore.
“Yeah, there’s a couple of stiff Claymores,” McIntyre said. “Most of the time, everybody walks away with all their teeth intact — unlike Jacob Fatu, or ‘Bleeding Gums’ Fatu. That’s his nickname.
“But yeah, I clocked Samoa Joe real bad one time in a Royal Rumble. To be fair, he didn’t say anything. He’s a man’s man. He just pulled me aside and let me know, ‘Hey brother, you caught me really bad.’ I felt so guilty because Joe’s my boy. He’s my brother.
“There are a few guys I’ve caught real hard and don’t feel so guilty about, but most of the time people are good. I felt really bad about the one to Joe.
“I’ve got Sheamus hard as hell a million times. He actually enjoys that. I think he gains power after taking the Claymore.”
Drew McIntyre names the worst finisher he’s taken
When asked about the worst move he’s ever taken, Drew McIntyre revealed it was Kane’s chokeslam. The former World Heavyweight Champion explained that although he had taken chokeslams from The Undertaker and Big Show, he hated taking Kane’s finisher due to his own inexperience at the time and Glenn Jacobs’ tremendous strength in delivering the move.
“Chokeslam, from Kane,” McIntyre said. “Horrible. I know the difference between Kane’s chokeslam, The Undertaker’s chokeslam, Big Show’s chokeslam, and all the chokeslams I’ve taken in my life. But every time Kane did it to me…
“To be fair, that time when I was wrestling him, I was 24, IC Champion. I was a bit clueless — still finding my way. I was a bit arrogant. Maybe he was just trying to put me through the ring. I don’t know. But he’s very big, very strong, and that chokeslam hurt like hell.”
