Tyrus highlights how monumental a visit from President Donald Trump would be.
Tyrus appeared on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast with Branson Quirke, who asked him about the rumors that Donald Trump would appear at John Cena’s retirement match in December.
“The President? One thousand percent. If he says he’s going, he’s going,” Tyrus said. “And that’s not even by mistake. He might even be [involved] in the finish. He might hit a ‘Binding resolution’ in the middle of that match. But I definitely think if the President says he’s going to be there, he’s going to be there. Because he’s a fan, he loves it.”
When Quirke mentioned that his co-host said it might be a bad look for Trump, Tyrus scoffed at the idea. Tyrus said that the media may try to minimize it, but the most powerful man in the world is there to see you wrestle, and it’s a feather in your cap.
“Bad look for who? You take away all the whiny baby crap, many years from now, when we’re all old and grey and all this media bullshit is over, there’s going to be a grandchild that says, ‘Hey, daddy, did you talk with the President?’ ‘I didn’t talk with him, but I broke bread with him.’ [Someone else will say], ‘I remember where I was when John Cena [retired] and the President of the United States was there. That’s not a small thing.”
John Cena’s retirement match will take place at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., on December 13.
