A new woman is on top of the National Wrestling Alliance.
For two years, Kenzie Paige dominated as the NWA World Women’s Champion, racking up successful title defenses over the likes of Ella Envy, Haley J, Nattie Neidhart (aka WWE star Natalya), and Natalia Markova. In a recent rematch, however, Markova bounced back with a win to dethrone the young champion.
The title match, airing on Tuesday’s episode of NWA Powerrr, ended with Markova nailing Paige with four Beautiful Destructions (spinning heel kicks), then a DDT to secure the victory. With it, Markova officially ends Paige’s two-year reign as NWA World Women’s Champion and begins her own.
The bout was originally filmed in August as a part of television tapings in Huntington, New York.
Markova, known as the “Russian Crush,” has been a regular fixture for NWA since late 2021, ironically beginning with a pair of matches against Paige on NWA USA. Paige captured the NWA World Women’s Championship with a victory over Kamille at NWA 75 in August 2023. Kamille, also known as “The Brickhouse,” preceded her with a lengthy 800+ day reign.
Markova celebrated her big title win on X, writing, “I did it my way! New @nwa Women’s World Champion!” alongside a photo of her wearing the championship. Across social media, peers such as Natalya, former NWA Women’s Tag Team Champion Marti Belle, Mike Mondo, Lili Ruiz, and Marshe Rockett have congratulated Markova.
