Wheeler Yuta is happy to see Marina Shafir getting her flowers.
Shafir was part of last week’s Women’s Blood & Guts match on AEW Dynamite. The match featured several crazy spots, including Marina Shafir slamming Kris Statlander on a bed of nails. Shafir also took a punch from Toni Storm, who wrapped her hand in broken glass, and got DDT’d into a pile of glass. The chaos continued, and Shafir threw a mirror at Storm to avoid a corner hip attack, glass shattering all over the “Timeless” one.
Shafir’s Death Riders stablemate, Wheeler Yuta, spoke with The Sportster’s Adam Barnard after the show and praised Shafir’s efforts. Barnard mentioned it looked like Shafir spat out a tooth or gum after the match. Yuta laughed and said that unless he missed it, Shafir had all of her teeth after the match. He also agreed with the assessment that Shafir was the MVP of the match.
“Yeah, I would agree. Obviously, we were preparing for our match as well, so we’re all getting warmed up and stuff. But we had the match on in the back, and she absolutely crushed it. She did incredible, and she, for my money, is one of the hardest workers, if not the hardest worker in AEW,” Yuta said. “She’s always by the ring before the show. She’s shadow boxing, she’s jumping rope, she’s doing something, bringing us through a HIIT mobility routine. Whatever it is, she’s always doing something to better herself and better all of us.”
Yuta said that Shafir’s hard work is starting to manifest now, and fans can see it on television.
“It’s been there the whole time. But now I think the whole world is catching on to what the Death Riders have known for a very long time,” he added.
