ESPN Host Criticizes Cam Skattebo For Getting Involved At WWE RAW While Injured

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo made several headlines coming out of WWE Raw this week after he shoved former WWE World Tag Team Champion JD McDonagh to the floor. McDonagh, along with fellow Judgment Day members Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor, then returned fire with shoves to Skattebo and comedian Andrew Schulz.

Due to Skattebo’s recent injuries to his ankle and fibula, ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday believes this series of events may not have been the smartest.

“I don’t love it. Again, I love Skattebo as a player. I think he’s unbelievable. I think the risk reward in this situation probably wasn’t well thought out,” Saturday said on ESPN’s Get Up. “Whether you like it or not, he did get pushed pretty hard, and there’s four dudes around you. Somebody falls into that same leg, we’re a couple of weeks out of a serious injury. And I understand it’s scripted, I understand all those things, there’s still a risk reward situation that’s not probably in the best mindset.

“At some point, you’re 2-8, [Jaxson] Dart is hurt, you’re hurt. Malik Nabers is hurt. Everybody’s going to build the Giants around these three guys. If something did happen right, it didn’t, thank God, but if it did, then you’re looking back, going our team leader or our motivational leader or whatever you want to call Skattebo is down longer because of this. It’s a risk-reward situation that I didn’t love.”

Skattebo sustained a broken right fibula and a dislocated right ankle during the Giants’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on October 26. He has since undergone surgery to address the injuries, which didn’t prevent him from appearing on WWE Raw in Madison Square Garden on Monday.

Skattebo responds to critics

Like Jeff Saturday, many other pundits and fans have expressed concern over the potential danger that Skattebo’s interaction with the Judgment Day could have brought on Raw. In response, Skattebo insists that they move on from it.

“Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on,” Skattebo wrote on X. “I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say.”
