WWE Legend Pitches Vince McMahon–Like On-Air Role For Triple H

Bully Ray says WWE’s chief content officer, Triple H should take on a Vince McMahon style role.

John Cena’s final WWE match continues to spark debate, especially because of how it ended. Fans expected an emotional farewell, but Cena losing by submission shocked many watching inside the arena and at home.

After the match, WWE stars and legends filled the ring to honor the 17-time world champion. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon led the tribute, while CM Punk and Cody Rhodes placed their world titles on Cena as a sign of respect.

However, the crowd loudly booed Triple H, clearly unhappy with the booking of Cena’s farewell. When he returned to the ring to present a tribute video celebrating Cena’s 23-year WWE career, the boos grew even louder, showing strong fan frustration.

Following the reaction, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray suggested that Triple H could use this moment to step into an on-screen authority role similar to Vince McMahon. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray said, “Does this give Triple H an opportunity to be like Vince McMahon?”

He explained that the crowd’s reaction could be turned into storyline momentum instead of being ignored. “One night only. Tonight. Just hear me out. I’m not going to reinvent the wheel, and this is not rocket science by any stretch of the imagination.”

He continued, “But based on everything, all the reactions towards Triple H post-Cena match, and on the after broadcast…after all the animosity directed at him, where it seemed like it kind of got to him a little bit. Dave, louder boos tonight; Triple H is the first music you hear, or GUNTHER is the first music you hear?” [H/T: WrestlingInc]

However, Rey’s suggestion didn’t come into fruition, as Gunther opened WWE Raw, mocked the fans and called John Cena a bitch for tapping out.
