AEW star MJF has made it clear that he has one major goal in mind: he wants to be remembered as the greatest of all time.
Following his return to AEW Dynamite, MJF spoke candidly about his mindset and motivation during an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. The conversation touched on Friedman’s intense recent travel schedule, which saw him bouncing between the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
MJF explained that he has always admired wrestlers who were true traveling champions and carried brutal schedules throughout their careers. Despite losing back-to-back matches against Mistico and Mark Briscoe, he strongly defended his performances.
He made it clear that simply being mentioned among the top names in wrestling is not enough for him. “Now, when people think about professional wrestling in 2025, the names that come up, am I one of them? Yeah, no f*ing st. But that’s not enough for me. I need to go down as the greatest of all time,” Friedman asserted. “I need to go down as a generational talent, as a guy who led my generation for years to come. AEW had me in my 20s. They’re about to have me in my 30s.”
MJF also admitted that while his resume is already impressive, winning matters more to him than match quality. “Have I accomplished more than anybody has in that period of time? Probably. But I’m not satiated. That was my biggest thing that I realized after the Mark Briscoe match. I just was not satiated. It’s not okay to just have a good outing. I need to win.” [H/T: wrestlingnew.co]
With his hunger stronger than ever, MJF is now set for a major opportunity. Following his return, he cashed in his Casino Gauntlet contract and will challenge for the AEW World Championship in a fatal four-way match against Samoa Joe, Hangman Page, and Swerve Strickland at AEW Worlds End.
